Program 5 Armored Troop Carrier "Tango" Tutorial

Step 3: Well Deck Details
Inside the well deck are the crew members bunks, which consisted of a steel-bar fame with canvas stretched and tied in-between.
If you want to have the bunks in the stowed position start by gluing the top bunks first. Follow the same procedure on the opposite side of the well deck.
Next add the lower bunks. If you want to have the bunks in the open position use two small chains per bunk, and glue the chains to the side of the well deck.
The next step is to add the ammunition can holders and hand rails. These are the parts needed for each side of the well deck.
Install the parts as shown. Notice the two firing platforms installed below the ammo bins.
The kit contains plenty of .30 and .50 cal ammunition cans. Install as shown after they are painted Olive Drab and given some yellow stencils.
The same procedure is done on the port side of the well deck.
Some smaller details to be installed inside the well deck.
Place the parts above as shown here.
A large stowage bin is also found inside the well deck. Wartime pictures show this bin full of rations, drink containers, flashlights etc. See my book Vietnam Ironclads for other interior details.
The stowage bin was located here. It can be installed after the deckhouse is constructed and installed.
Next I added the boat ramp.
The ramp can be installed in the raised or lowered position. If you choose the raised position don't forget to add the large safety chain as shown here. If you wish to lower it, two pieces of thread on each side will nicely replicate the steel wire ramp cable.
