Step 6 Diorama Display |
Super Tip= Super Detail= |
My first step was to build a dam around the display case to hold in the simulated water. Before I applied the Envirotex resin water I painted the base Model Master Light earth and added engine froth using spackle. |

The completed water scene for A 111-5. |
I've gotten so good at making the simulated brown water now there was absolutely no mess to clean up...not even on my hands or wife's kitchen towels! |
The waves were made by sticking the end of a popsicle stick into the resin just before it dried completely. The trick is to wait until the resin will lift up but not stick to the popsicle dowel. |
I mixed a few drops of light earth paint into the Envirotex while I was mixing the resin with the harder. After forming the waves I painted the top of the waves with titanium white oil paint. |
The engine froth on the stern looks very realistic. |
The mine sweep chin can be seen dragging though the water. |
For this diorama I chose to replicate a typical mine sweeping operation. |
Parting shot...the engine splashes look almost real! |
The finished boat complete with a dust-proof acrylic display case. |
